Turkey - Aksaray & Sultanhanı

Before reaching the town of Aksaray travelling between Konya and Cappadocia (D300), you can visit the Sultanhani caravanserai which is fortified place of welcome for the caravans. Built in the 1200s and is one of the best preserved caravanserais built by the sultans.

Aphrodisias, named after the goddess of love Aphrodite, is placed around 60 miles east of Ephesus and not written about much in any guide books I have come across but well worth a visit.

Rio De Janeiro, known to most as Rio, has always been in my top 50 must visit locations, with Christ the Redeemer being the most recognised landmark and one of the new 7 wonders of the world. Trams play an important part of the public infrastructure with the Santa Teresa Tram Bridge being very noteworthy of a visit and a few clicks of your camera.

Skiathos island Airport, Alexandros Papadiamantis, has to be the new, must see, crazy airport landings for Europe. Very similar to Princess Julianna at St Maarten in the Caribbean. When you have got over this arrival you then have a beautiful island with many beaches to explore. Transfers from the airport to Skiathos town is just 10 minutes and the first place most will visit is the Old harbour for views across the Mediterranean.

Down on Kechria beach, located on the north of the island, offers shingle beaches with lots of grass too making a contrasting change to the more visited south of the island.

Heard some wonderful recommendations about this hotel, Cape Mitikas Villa,  looks very good on tripadvisor. More for this place when I get more time on Skiathos.

There are many places to attract you to come and enjoy a visit to this part of the world. For me, my attention is always now drawn to Marina Bay Sands Complex. At the time of writing the most expensive hotel to build in the world costing in the region of Four Billion Sterling.

With over 2500 rooms, casinos, shops, restaurants, theatres and night clubs and a huge science museum it's a visitor attraction destination all by itself. Just take a look at the stunning views around the bay.
